Valentine’s Day reached an all-time high of $19.7 billion in 2016, which includes the $2 billion roses delivered to the ladies throughout America. While I definitely love being adored on this amorous holiday – especially because I’ve played on the single’s team for a few years- paying $75, plus delivery, for roses doesn’t sound very lovely. I’d prefer a single rose or maybe a few flowers from Trader Joe’s that could cost my lover no more than $10. That’s just my preference.

For those who do enjoy being surprised with a special delivery of a dozen long-stem roses (nothing wrong with a little spotlight), here are a few hacks that can help your significant other score a bouquet of roses for no more than $50.  The closer we approach February 14th, the more expensive roses become and quality is lost. It’s a crazy world out there, so, if you dare, follow these instructions to save yourself and money!

Tip #1:

Florists smell desperate. Don’t wait last minute to place an order for a bouquet of roses or it’ll hurt your wallet. Roses can live up to 5-7 days, even longer if you add a little sugar to the vase. Deliver the roses to yourself on February 10th, and then hand-deliver them to your valentine on the 14th.

Tip #2:

Red roses are so cliché and $20 more than any other colored roses. Order pink for a change. I promise she’ll still be happy as a clam!

While roses are the best choice of expressing your deepest affection, you’re in luck if your significant other favors less expensive blooms: daisies, tulips, carnations, delphiniums and many more. Unlike roses that die in less than a week, these pocket-friendly florals have a longer life span of 11 days. That’s pretty romantic, if you ask me.

Visit your local florist, instead of ordering from an online floral boutique. Online floral boutiques have higher prices because they, then, place your order with your local florist. You don’t need a middle man!

If your job is anything like mine, you’re on the road scouting locations for photoshoots, while you’re uploading to social media and scheduling a model casting call. Sometimes we need some space. I’m not talking about a break, but an actually work space to gather our thoughts and think more clearly. Lucky for us, women, there are spaces specifically for women who need a quick office to reply to emails or, for the new mama, pump your breast milk!

I came across New York’s newest coworking space The Wing. They seriously outdid themselves. With the mission to provide women with a work and social space designed for convenience and connection, The Wing gives women a clean and feminine atmosphere to work in. No loud voices from aggressive business men or boring unisex furniture, here. Amenities include charging stations, makeup on demand, lockers, conference room, showers, food and a lactation room. If you ever just need a place to unhook your bra and take off your heels, you’ve found the right place. I’m in complete awe with the pink couch!

Eager to find a similar location in Los Angeles, I came across Paper Dolls, who, in luck, also caters to women only. These female social clubs come with a hefty price starting at $99/month, but worth it for the entrepreneurial women who, in return, get an invitation to private networking events, webinars and receive special training and speaker series. Do some research between your conference calls and find your local women-only social club space. Sometimes we, women, need to stick together to inspire and lift one another. Plus, everything is prettier when we work together.

Roses are red,

Violets are blue,

VDAY calls for some lingerie,

Psst, we’ve got a few!

Valentine's Day lingerie Kitty bra red black

OK ladies, I know around this time we probably have a PRIVATE Pinterest board labeled “VDAY SURPRISES FOR HIM” full of lingerie, hip restaurants with a VDAY menu for two, lingerie, edible candle wax and maybe some more lingerie! Get where I’m going with this? Yes, picking out Valentine’s Day lingerie can get pretty stressful with the vast selection to choose from and, of course, because we want it to be sheer perfection – just like us. Should I go “fifty shades”, or Rita Hayworth for a little Hollywood glamour?

Don’t want to toot my own horn, but I’ve become quite the professional. I’ve learned 3 things about lingerie shopping for this special-for-two holiday:

  • Don’t get anything with hearts. You know what I’m talking about. Panties with a heart located in the center of the crotch area, or bras with a heart covering each nipple. You’re sophisticated and employed – you can afford good taste.
  • After dinner, obviously you’re going to go back to his pad. I like to find lingerie that I can easily hide under my Valentine’s Day outfit. This eliminates cami/short sets, and lingerie with loose strings or embellishments. If you’re married, try this too! Why put a stop to your beautiful night? Don’t wait to get home to slip into a body suit that took you hours to find.
  • Lingerie can get pretty pricey- depending on what you’re looking for- so invest in pieces that you can wear all year round. You don’t need to be wrapped in bright red nor hot pink lace to get festive. Try dark blue or rich burgundy satin pieces for a change. These colors are full of romance and luxury. Most importantly, you can wear them again next week!

Here are my top 3 picks for Valentine’s Day that can be worn all year long, but still confess true love:

Very rarely do I match my lingerie completely, especially after I’ve slept through my alarm! Earlier this week, I mentioned that I’ve been utterly obsessed with nude and black lingerie because it makes it easier for me to match – or should I say mix-n-match? A black bra with patterned panties is a great way to make your lingerie a bit playful without looking childish. You can also, instead, wear a patterned bra with nude panties. There’s just those moments when you feel spunky and need your attire to reflect that, and not look so uniformed.

Take a look into your drawer for endless matching possibilities. This is also a great way to use patterned sets that we neglect because the designs are transparent beneath sheer tops during the Summer months. You can still rock the panties with a nude or black bra. Once winter comes around you can start wearing patterned bras under chunky knit sweaters with their matching bottoms.

We swapped our favorite patterned bras with nudes or blacks to show you what a different vibe mix-n-matching can give to a set!

Robes are a sign of maturity. I’m not talking about those fluffy robes we like snuggle with in the mornings. I’m talking about robes that compliment the lingerie, and lift our confidence. The kind of robes that make you feel like the woman you wanted to be when you were a little girl. They can make any woman feel like a million bucks!

Do we wear lingerie regularly? Maybe not. I spend most of the time wearing my robe while I’m getting ready for a date or night out on the town. I curl my hair and put on my makeup without worry that I’ll ruin my outfit. Something about putting on your clothes before hair and makeup just doesn’t let you step out the door feeling fresh. For example, at some point as I’m getting ready, I’m on my knees looking for the right heels under my bed. Your outfit of the night should be the last thing you put on before leaving your casa for that flawless effect. This way, you can see your complete ensemble from head to toe looking picture-perfect.

For the women that do wear lingerie often – you need a robe in your life if you don’t already have one. Especially if you’re new to wearing lingerie, robes can make you feel a bit more relaxed since you’re baring less skin.  It’s a great beginner’s accessory to get you hooked on wearing lingerie. Robes can even make your lingerie sexier with beautiful complimenting fabrics such as lace, fur or satin. Get a look at how well robes enhance our favorite collections from Parfait!

Although nude and black delicates are top-drawer essentials, it can be quite a bore shopping for them. You’re tempted to just grab any basic black bra in your size, and walk out to do some real shopping.

Bras with pops of color and embellishments are always a thrill to shop for, but, let’s be honest, how often do you wear them? They sit in your drawer for months, and soon forget about them. Pops of color are transparent beneath sheer tops, and bras with embellishments are anything but seamless. Yes, they’re pretty and flirty, but so are the basics!

Many lingerie companies are beginning to appreciate seamless lace and small stylish embellishments for a modern take on black and nude bras. Women get more use from these modern essentials: you can wear them all year long and beneath any top. They’re also date-night approved! A small crystal or embellishment is usually located between the cups to add a little sparkle to your lingerie. Lately, all I ever buy are nude or black lingerie. It’s convenient, sexy and flattering on any skin tone. No matter what bra I throw on in the morning, I feel like a fashionista because my bra and panty match, and it’s all so chic.

Parfait has an assortment of nude bras that bring a different meaning to the word “basics”. Find these intimates available in A-K cup bras and XS-4XL panties to offer every woman trendy designs for everyday wear!

Who has the time to work on their Summer body? Seems like every year I’m postponing the flat stomach, but not this year. I discovered new at-home routines that don’t require a treadmill nor Stairmaster!

I like to hit the outdoors for a nice jog on the weekends; however, after coming home from work, the last thing I want to do is swap my heels for sneakers. I’ve got a few at-home routines that don’t require much stress on your body. Before getting down to business, it’s important to know your focus points. Which part of your body needs some toning? I like to focus on my upper body, like arms. After all, I run on weekends to tone my legs.

I was recently introduced to resistance bands. You can tone your entire body with these elastic babies – and at any time: after tucking your children into bed, while speaking on the phone or during your favorite T.V. show!

Here’s a great resistance band beginners work-out that’ll really get your heart pumping. Resistance Bands range from $10 – $30, on Amazon. Now we really have no excuse to stay fit!

We’ve been hearing about inner beauty since childhood: be gentle toward one another, be humble, be loving and, above all, be patient.

As you get older, the girls you once labeled ugly have blossomed into beautiful women.  The pretty girls no longer have a soft complexion and beautiful eyes. Haven’t you heard? An ugly personality destroys a pretty face.

We no longer want to clink our champagne glasses with model-esque women that care about every angle of their hair. We yearn for a girlfriend with the loud laugh, a sense of humor, intriguing personality and a warm spirit everywhere she goes. These quotes go out to you because YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!

I am no stranger to making New Year’s resolutions. It’s always nice to reflect over the course of a year and re-live all your experiences. Last year’s resolution: not to react to situations that I cannot control. Although I (over)reacted under numerous occasions since then, the first step is to acknowledge that something needs to change. Be aware of the problem and slowly talk yourself out. Eventually, “this change” will become a natural instinct.

This year’s resolution: replace all my bathroom essentials with organic and chemical-free products.  I know – way off course from last year, but the best resolutions are made when we reflect. Last summer, I had a terrible sore throat after cleaning my bathroom with typical household cleaning products, like Ajax and Pine-Sol. At first I thought I was coming down with a cold, but everyday my lungs were feeling tighter making it harder to breathe. I did some personal research (we, women, love doing this!) and found out that I had

I did some personal research (we, women, love doing this!) and found out that I had Pneumonitis, or inflammation of the lungs caused by household cleaners. I made a trip to the hospital for medication, and recovered after a week.

I’ve slowly been replacing all my regular cleaning products with chemical-free cleansers, including toiletries. You’ve probably already noticed how much pricier organic products can be; almost double the price! I have bills to pay, too. Start small when making this change. Think about what’s important to you.

For example, my Method Daily Shower Cleaner is an essential for me. As I’m showering and singing at the top of my lungs, I don’t want to inhale chemicals trapped inside with me. Method Daily Shower Cleaner is non-toxic and phosphate-free. Here are a few of my other essential bathroom products!
