7 Signs You Need A New Swimsuit
It may be a tad chilly outside just now but, before you know it, the weather will be heating up once again. That means just one thing – it’s soon to be swimsuit season. With you next vacay just around the corner, though, you may be thinking about whether you need a new swimsuit or not. Well, it’s time to dig out the one that you have and take a good, hard look at it for a second.
Here are 7 signs you should invest in a new one:
1. The swimsuit has started to change color.
The first thing that you may well notice when you find that a swimsuit is past its best is that there will be some level of discoloration. If your once bright blue suit is now a pale shade of gray, that could be a rather serious problem. In truth, many pools are pumped full of chemicals, such as chlorine. Over time, you may find that the water starts to wear down the color of your suit and make it look discolored and out of sorts. When that happens, there’s no way to bring the piece back. It could be time for a totally new one.
2. The elastic is stretched out.
A decent quality swimsuit should be elastic and tight. Of course, all material tends to lose its elasticity over time, which can be a real pain. If you find that your swimsuit is getting looser and looser, it’s not going to be very comfortable to wear at all. It’s not right. This is most likely to happen when you’ve had the same suit for years and years on end. If that’s the case, it’s likely high time that you got a new one anyhow. You should probably start looking for a suit sooner rather than later.
3. You’re not getting any support.
Of course, some swimsuits don’t offer a proper level of support from the offset. You may find that some don’t have a cup size or adequate support around the breast area. Should you have a larger chest, that could well be a real problem when you head to the pool. Not only will it feel uncomfortable, but the suit is likely to look less than flattering at the best of times as well. Also, you may notice that the support begins to decrease over time, offering more or less the same effect too.

4. It no longer feels comfortable.
Ask yourself one small and simple question. Are you comfortable in the swimsuit that you’re currently wearing? It should be a pretty straightforward thing to answer. If you avoid heading to the beach or going swimming because something doesn’t feel quite right, you need to rethink things a little. When you stop feeling totally comfortable in your swimsuit, you need to switch things up as soon as possible. Sometimes, it’s the most obvious signs that act as major red flags that you shouldn’t overlook. Pay attention to this one.
5. The straps dig into your shoulders…
Ouch! Are you getting painful red marks on your shoulders after wearing your swimsuit? This often happens when you’ve tightened up the straps too much in a bid to deal with a suit losing its elasticity. Not only does that ‘hack’ not really work, but it can end up seriously hurting you. The last thing you want is to wear a swimsuit that actually causes you pain every single time you put it on. While you may not think that this is a big deal, it could soon turn into one if you don’t address it and sort it out!
6. …Or the straps fall down all the time.
Equally, if you find that the straps are a little looser than they should be. If that’s the case, and it wasn’t always, the most likely reason is that the swimsuit has worn and become old. Over time, the sorry truth of the matter is that suits will get a little looser than they once were. That’s why it’s seriously important to replace your suit as often as you can do so. Avoiding the suit becoming too old to wear is just plain common sense after all.
7. You don’t feel confident in it.
When you slip on your fave swimsuit, you should feel nothing short of 100% confident. You should ooze self-esteem and pride. It’s that simple. If you don’t feel entirely comfortable in the suit that you are currently wearing, that means that it is most certainly time to change things up a little. Finding a swimsuit that suits you and makes you feel wonderful whenever you wear it should definitely be your top priority.
So, have you noticed some of these signs before now? If you find that your suit is too old for you to be wearing or, indeed, that something just doesn’t feel right, it’s time to change it and get a brand new one. Remember, you deserve to feel your very best when the summer months come around and it’s time to finally head to the poolside.
